A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Cian began conducting the Tony and Grammy Award winning musical IN THE HEIGHTS at just 22 years of age and, since then, has conducted such productions as MOULIN ROUGE! THE MUSICAL, THE BOOK OF MORMON and AVENUE Q. In 2012, he played keyboards for the world premiere of the score to Lin-Manuel Miranda's HAMILTON at Lincoln Center and that same year he was nominated for a Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award for Best Musical Direction of Armistead Maupin’s TALES OF THE CITY (music by the Scissor Sisters).  From 2012 to 2016 he served as Music Director for Broadway's THE BOOK OF MORMON and has traveled to London's West End and Sydney, Australia to supervise the mounting of the hit production in both countries. In addition to serving as Music Director for Broadway's MOULIN ROUGE! THE MUSICAL, he spent several years serving as the Associate Musical Supervisor for the international productions of the 10-time TONY-winning musical.

Most recently, Cian has worked regularly as an arranger and orchestrator for musicals in development including Young Jean Lee's WE'RE GONNA DIE, INVISIBLE THREAD at New York’s Second Stage Theatre (directed by TONY-winner Diane Paulus) and BURN ALL NIGHT at American Repertory Theater. He provided the orchestrations for the critically acclaimed cast recording of Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews' WITNESS UGANDA (Sony Masterworks) and in 2022 he collaborated with BRIT Award-winner Kate Nash, providing dance arrangements and orchestrations for the New York premiere of her new musical ONLY GOLD (direction and choreography by TONY-winner Andy Blankenbuehler).

As a composer, Cian took 3rd Prize in the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory's International Competition for Young Composers and has provided original music for a variety of film projects including SOMETHING LIKE SUMMER, the feature film adaptation of Jay Bell's best-selling novel. In 2023 he was selected as a finalist in 11th International Film Music Competition, which will take place at the 19th Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland.

Upcoming projects include providing the orchestrations for the new musical LEMPICKA (starring Eden Espinosa and led by TONY-winning director, Rachel Chavkin) opening on Broadway Spring of 2024 and supervising, orchestrating and arranging the new musical THE DEATH OF DESERT ROSE.
