A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Cian began conducting the Tony and Grammy Award winning musical IN THE HEIGHTS at just 22 years of age and, since then, has conducted such productions as MOULIN ROUGE! THE MUSICAL, THE BOOK OF MORMON and AVENUE Q. In 2012, he played keyboards for the world premiere of the score to Lin-Manuel Miranda's HAMILTON at Lincoln Center and that same year he was nominated for a Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Award for Best Musical Direction of Armistead Maupin’s TALES OF THE CITY (music by the Scissor Sisters). From 2012 to 2016 he served as Music Director for Broadway's THE BOOK OF MORMON and has traveled to London's West End and Sydney, Australia to supervise the mounting of the hit production in both countries. In addition to serving as Music Director for Broadway's MOULIN ROUGE! THE MUSICAL, he spent several years serving as the Associate Musical Supervisor for the international productions of the 10-time TONY-winning musical.
Most recently, Cian has worked regularly as an arranger and orchestrator for several musicals both on and off-Broadway including LEMPICKA (direction by Rachel Chavkin), REAL WOMEN HAVE CURVES (direction by Sergio Trujillo) Young Jean Lee's WE'RE GONNA DIE, INVISIBLE THREAD (direction by Diane Paulus) and BURN ALL NIGHT at American Repertory Theater. He provided the orchestrations for the original LA cast recording of Matt Gould and Griffin Matthews' WITNESS UGANDA (Sony Masterworks) and, in 2022, he collaborated with BRIT Award-winner Kate Nash, providing the dance arrangements and orchestrations for the New York premiere of her new musical ONLY GOLD (direction and choreography by TONY-winner Andy Blankenbuehler).

In the TV & Film world, he has worked as an orchestrator for acclaimed composer Marcelo Zarvos (Ray Donovan, The Affair, The Big C) and has composed original scores for a variety of film projects including SOMETHING LIKE SUMMER, the feature film adaptation of Jay Bell's best-selling novel.

He took 3rd Prize in the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory's International Competition for Young Composers and, in 2023, he was selected as a finalist in prestigious International Film Music Competition which took place at the 19th Zurich Film Festival, Switzerland.

Current projects include supervising, orchestrating and arranging the new musicals THE WRONG MAN and THE DEATH OF DESERT ROSE and providing orchestrations for Marcelo Zarvos' original score to the feature-length documentary SPACEWOMAN.
